I am sorry to announce that on April 18th, Brother Murlan Murphy, Jr. (Delta Alpha 287) passed away. Brother Murphy was a renowned figure in the Cleveland area for his industrial and philanthropic work.
After graduating from Case in 1941 with a degree in Chemical Engineering, he went on to become president of the Murphy-Phoenix Company, which is most well known for making Murphy's Oil Soap.
He was a dedicated philanthropist and gave heavily to both Case Western Reserve and St. Ignatius High School as well as founding the Murphy Family Foundation. He chaired a $600,000 fundraising campaign for CWRU in addition to being a Life Member of the Case Alumni Council.
He will be surely missed by all who knew him. You can read more from his wikipedia article and obituary.
John Massie, DA 661 , was recently featured in the Alumni Greek Newsletter produced by the Greek Life Office. To read the entire interview please follow the link below.
I am sorry to inform everyone that Brother David Warrick (Delta Alpha 459), of Naperville, Illinois, passed away last week. It is a loss to our chapter and he will be missed by all the brothers who knew him.
Last Saturday after going to a wedding brothers Jason Powell (DA1129) and Joseph Mohner (DA1145) dropped by the house to visit with the active chapter.
It was great to see both of them come out to the house and we were glad to tour them around the numerous improvements we have been working on in the last few years. We are always glad to have alumni come and visit!
Update: Joe is now a Manufacturing engineer with Swagelok in Willoughby Hills and Jason is a Counsel to the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform in the House of Representatives.
Nominations are open for the 2009 Alumnus of the Year. If you would like to nominate a brother, please send your nomination to brother Evan Heiser (evan.heiser@gmail.com).

Chris Gammell's blog
One of our more recent alumni, Chris Gammell (DA1168), has recently started writing at Chris Gammell’s Analog Life.
He focuses on renewable energy, analog technology, and engineering in general.
It is a good read and we are always glad to see a Delta Alpha get such good exposure!

Delta Alpha alumni get together at Claddagh
Last Thursday a group of more than a dozen alumni, friends, and family met for drinks at the Claddagh Irish Pub in Legacy village from about 5-9.
We saw many familiar faces - both old and young - and everyone had a great time competing in Claddagh's trivia contest.
We hope to see more alumni come out to these small events!
