THe Delta Alpha chapter had their first man mixer on Sunday April 13 with the brothers of the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity on campus. A barbeque was held in the dining room and food, cornhole, video games and fraternal conversation were enjoyed by all. The IFC just recently started encouraging this addition of mixers between fraternities because of the popularity of mixers between sororities so there are sure to be more man mixers to come in future years.
The most recent Ritual Review held by Delta Alpha Chapter had an older feel. As more upperclassmen come out to discuss Ritual, the conversations take on a different tone. Meaningful discussion was again facilitated by Chaplain Jeff Greenstein, with Brother Dustin Fisher, Brother Henry Smith, LC Geoffrey Peyton, and Brother Russell Smith all in attendance.
Friday evening saw a Sigma Nu invasion of House 7 of The Village at 115. Men who have affiliated with the chapter over the last year got a chance to come together with those leaving after this year in an effort to pass on the ethos and history of Sigma Nu at CWRU. The night, complete with awesome gourmet pizza (seriously, normal pizza does NOT need that many spices and ingredients), was enjoyed by all who participated.
Greek Week ended this afternoon for Sigma Nu with a competitive rope pull match vs. Sigma Phi Epsilon. Sig Ep ended up winning the match by inches, but Sigma Nu definitely gave them a run for their money and kept pulling until time was called. Alumni Matt Strewing and Kedar Hiremath helped Jeff Greenstein coach the team.
The week ended with Sigma Nu in 2nd place (congratulations to Sig Ep for winning Greek Week 2008). Sigma Nu started the week strong with 1st place finishes in Greek Sing, Banner, and Variety Show. Congratulations to Sigma Nu on a fantastic Greek Week.
Thursday (4/3/2008) was a great day for Sigma Nu in Greek Week 2008! Sigma Nu won banner with their creation on an extremely artistic and original pinball machine (that works!) inside a room. The pinball machine, art, and decoration was all done in the theme of various "Legends" around case, either on campus or throughout Greek Weeks in the past.
Sigma Nu continued their winning streak by taking first place in the Variety Show competition held at the Allen Theater at Playhouse Square. Sigma Nu stuck with the "Greek Week Legends: The Untold Stories" theme by doing their interpretation of "Iron Chef" with Iron Chef's from Canada (Wayne Gretzky), Sweden, and the challenger from Toledo. The challenger (played by Alex Hamberger and Assisted by Dan Johnson) made Toledo surprise, which he introduced to the Chairman through song and dance, being joined by 30 other brothers. The entire crowd went wild when danced and did synchronized moves with wooden cooking spoons.
